Hallo Daniela!

Da sagt normal keiner was beim Check In.

10kg
... also meine Bodhran passt doch eigentlich...
Grüße ausm Norden

Moin

hello dear craiceann folks!

zriis, dir hab ich eh scho a PM zwecks logistik geschrieben..

Hier mal die offizielle Begrüßungsmail, die eigentlich alle, die sich per Internet angemeldet haben, bekommen haben sollten:ZitatWell, it's only a couple of weeks until we will all meet up on Inis Oirr for Craiceann 2007, and we in the organising team are really looking forward to greeting old friends and making new ones. I thought it might be useful, (especially for new participants), to give in advance, some suggestions and information about the summerschool and the island. The points that follow are in no particular order of importance.
Location of Craiceann Summerschool
The Craiceann event is held in the island's Cultural Centre called Ãras Éanna. This comprises a group of buildings built around an open courtyard, and it is situated on a hill overlooking the pier. To give some idea of distance and direction, it is about 400 metres behind/inland/above Tigh Ned's, and about 800 -1000 metres from the Óstán and Tigh Ruairi's. Distances from individual B&B's will obviously depend on their location, but all will be within comfortable walking distance.
Registration and Assessment on first morning
Registration will be carried out in Ãras Éanna (the Cultural Centre) on Monday morning from 10 am. It will be administered by "Mister Craiceann" MÃcheál Ó hÃlmháin, and he will meet each participant so that they can be enrolled in the course and pay the balance of their course fee. After registration they will be directed to the assessment team (Rolf and David). Following assessment students will have free time until 2.15pm when they should return to Ãras Éanna ("the Ãras") to check their allocation to a particular group and then the first class at 2.30pm. A more detailed explanation of the Assessment process is attached to this mail.
No Banking facilities on the island
There are no banking facilities of any kind on Inis Oirr, so this means no Cash Dispensing Machines or Bureau de Change, and also it would be wise to assume that credit cards will not be accepted. This means that for every financial transaction, participants will need to pay in cash (Euros) - this includes paying for accomodation, meals, drink, course fee, concert tickets, gala dinner, souvenirs, and bodhráns (if anybody wants to buy a new drum while at Craiceann). People should therefore plan for their likely spending, and bring sufficient cash (Euros) with them.
Eating and Drinking on the island
There are three main food/drink establishments on Inis Oirr - one hotel ( the Óstán), and two pubs (Tigh Ruairi's) and (Tigh Ned's). If you come off the ferry at the pier, Tigh Ned's is about 100 metres to the right, the Óstán is to the right and then right again inland, and is a walk of about 300 -400 metres, and Tigh Ruairi's is about a further 80 metres further inland and past the side of the Óstán. Tigh Ruairi's and the Óstán serve lunchtime and evening meals, and Tigh Ned's serves lunches only. There is also a small café beside Tigh Ruairi's that serves lunchtime snacks, and a slightly more formal restaurant called the Fisherman's Cottage about 100 metres past Tigh Ned's that serves lunches and evening meals.
As well as these places that serve food, there is a small supermarket/grocery store situated between Tigh Ruairi's and the Óstán.
Weather & Clothing
For those familiar with the Irish climate, you will already know that here you can experience all four seasons of the year in one day, so the only thing you can be certain about the weather is its uncertainty. June will normally have daytime temperatures between 16 and 22 degrees Centigrade, and conditions varying from bright sunshine to rain showers. Some years Craiceann week has seen the sun shine every day and no rain, and other times, let's say, it has been more variable. This all means that you may be wearing shorts and T-shirt and going swimming, or you may need some light rainwear.
Attachments to this E-mail
Attached to this mail you will find an explanation of the Assessment process, and the daily Schedule of classes and events. Please print off and bring with you a copy of the Schedule as it will be useful to have a personal copy. You may also wish to learn a little more about Inis Oirr by going to the website http://www.inisoirr-island.com.
See you soon on Inis Oirr,
David (Dáithi)
Da hier attachments schwierig sind, die beiden Dokumente hier:ZitatCraiceann 2007 - Assessment and Groups
After you have registered, and before classes start, you should wait outside the Assessment Room where you will be called in for a very short and informal assessment of your playing. This will be done by Rolf Wagels, one of our experienced tutors, and David Lewis from our Admin team. You will be asked to select a traditional tune type (Jig – Reel etc) and then to play along to a piece of music for about 30 seconds.
The purpose of this is for us to get an impression of the playing skill of all the students, so that we can decide which class group will best suit each individual. Each class group will be known by a letter A B C etc. Group A will be comprised of players at the expert skill level, moving downwards then through each subsequent group to the beginners who are just starting out on their bodhrán playing adventure. For everybody to learn the most from their week here with us, it is important that each class group is made up of students who are approximately at a similar skill level. This makes it easier for the tutor to structure each class appropriately, and means that each individual should feel comfortable within their group. We ask that each individual stays with their group for the whole week., but if any student believes that he/she is not in the correct group, they should talk to Micheal O hAlmhain, and he will arrange for them to move into another group at a higher or lower skill level. This may also be done if the tutors feel that a student has been placed in the wrong group. This process is intended to be informal and flexible, but our experience has taught us that getting people into the “correct” group is very important to allow each person to get the most benefit from their time here.
Some people will not be called in for assessment – those who have been at Craiceann before and whose playing skill level we already know, will be directly allocated to the appropriate group, and those who have declared themselves as absolute beginners will be allocated to that specific group. The beginners group will have the same tutor for the first couple of days, and then when their playing skills have improved, they will have the opportunity to experience the teaching and playing of the other tutors.
When all assessments are complete the group lists will be drawn up and then published on the noticeboard by 2.15pm. when everybody can check their particular allocation.
Each group will be based in a specific room, so students should go to that room, and then the first class for Craiceann 2007 can then begin at 2.30pm.
Each group will have its own designated room and remain there for the week, except for the “Extra Classes”, when tutors will be based in a room and students will make their own choice.
The plan showing tutors and groups for the Regular Classes, and tutors rooms for the Extra Classes will be posted on the noticeboard.
